Jack and Liam

Liam is almost 7 weeks old.  He is getting huge!  I weighed him while at my own dr appt a few days ago, and he was around 12 1/2 lbs.  From my calculations, that is well within the 90th percentile!  He is going to be a little chunker just like Jack was.  He is wearing 3 month clothing and size 1 diapers.  He has not started smiling yet, but I know it will be soon.  He is making more and more eye contact and is really aware of what is going on around him.  He has started enjoying his play mat and especially likes to look in the mirror and wave his arms around.  He enjoys taking naps on his belly on his blue woombie donut (which was an awesome gift from Granny) or in his swing.  He sleeps in his Rock N Play sleeper at night, but we hope to transition him to sleeping on his back in the pack n play soon.  He loves to snooze during the day, which sometimes causes him to be cranky and not want to go to sleep in the evenings.  But once he finally goes to sleep at night, he is a great sleeper.  Most nights he sleeps 5-6 hours straight, which is much appreciated by this tired mommy!  Overall, Liam is really pretty calm and relaxed compared to Jack!

Jack will be 3 in about a month.  He is rambunctious and full of fun!  He loves to play with cars, airplanes, dinosaurs, animals, legos, and my iphone.  He is very sweet, although he definitely has a stubborn streak (which is true of all 2-3 year olds I'm sure.)  Jack adores his baby brother and is super sweet to him, which is so neat.  We thought he would be jealous and act out towards him, but he never has.  He loves to hug him, give him kisses, help take care of him, and get him toys.  He gets concerned when Liam cries and wants us to go pick him up immediately.  Jack recently started at a new branch of Stepping Stone, his daycare center, and he is really enjoying it.  Luckily he knew his teacher and some of the kids from the other branch, so it has been a pretty smooth transition.  He just started gymnastics as well.  Although he cried and refused to participate for some of the first class, he is now enjoying it most of the time.  It is the perfect way for him to get out some of his energy, especially now that is often too hot to play outside.  We have been swimming in the neighborhood pool quite a bit lately, which Jack loves.  We recently took Jack to the circus, and he really enjoyed it.

We are definitely enjoying the summer and are looking forward to lots of adventures, including Jack's birthday in July, and visiting Mississippi and the Alabama gulf coast in August.  We can't wait!
