Chunky Monkey!
Liam had his 2 month doctor appt on Friday. They confirmed that he is a chubby little dude! He is about 13 lbs, 4 oz, which is in the 90th percentile for weight. I can't remember his length, but he was about 40th percentile. Our little man is healthy and obviously growing well! I'm sure he will be a chubby little monster just like Jack, until he starts crawling and walking and burning calories. Its fine with me, I love to kiss those fat cheeks!

This past week definitely had its ups and downs! Last Thursday I took Jack to the doctor to check out a little rash on his face (which was fine.) When we got home around noon, I felt perfectly fine, but by 2:00 pm I had a 102 fever. It kept on going up and I started to feel horrible. Turns out I had mastitis! I can honestly say that the next few days were up there with the worst illnesses I can remember having. It was as bad as the flu. I constantly flip flopped between extreme chills and feeling super hot and I felt exhausted all the time. Luckily I was able to get on antibiotics quickly, or it might have been even worse. Thank goodness Patrick was able to help a lot with taking care of the kids. I truly hope I don't ever get that again!
Jack got to go to a birthday party at PowerSports Gymnastics on Saturday for one of the boys in his gymnastics class. I didn't go due to my illness, but Patrick said he had a blast. Unfortunately our kid seems to be somewhat clumsy! At one point he got his leg stuck in some kind of hole between the mats and required several people to free him, and later he fell and hit his head on something hard (not sure exactly what). But he had still had fun, and he talks about it ever day.
We started serious potty training with Jack about 10 days ago. Since he is so stubborn, we knew that he would never do it as long as he still had diapers available. So we just said that diapers were going bye bye and put him in cloth training pants. He has done amazing! Although of course we had quite a few accidents at first, he caught on pretty quickly and is now telling us when he needs to go almost all the time (except at nap and night). He is sooo proud of his "big boy underwear!" I am so glad to *almost* have only 1 in diapers again! :)
Liam started smiling this week! It is adorable! He has what we call "happy time" where he gets excited, waves his arms around, coos and makes these little half smiles! He hasn't quite gotten the full blown grin down, but he has made several big smiles. On Monday morning, I had to go to a training and Patrick watched Liam. When I got home, I picked him up and sat down on the couch. When I looked down, Liam was looking right at me with a huge smile-it melted my heart!! Love him.

Jack and Liam
Liam is almost 7 weeks old. He is getting huge! I weighed him while at my own dr appt a few days ago, and he was around 12 1/2 lbs. From my calculations, that is well within the 90th percentile! He is going to be a little chunker just like Jack was. He is wearing 3 month clothing and size 1 diapers. He has not started smiling yet, but I know it will be soon. He is making more and more eye contact and is really aware of what is going on around him. He has started enjoying his play mat and especially likes to look in the mirror and wave his arms around. He enjoys taking naps on his belly on his blue woombie donut (which was an awesome gift from Granny) or in his swing. He sleeps in his Rock N Play sleeper at night, but we hope to transition him to sleeping on his back in the pack n play soon. He loves to snooze during the day, which sometimes causes him to be cranky and not want to go to sleep in the evenings. But once he finally goes to sleep at night, he is a great sleeper. Most nights he sleeps 5-6 hours straight, which is much appreciated by this tired mommy! Overall, Liam is really pretty calm and relaxed compared to Jack!
Jack will be 3 in about a month. He is rambunctious and full of fun! He loves to play with cars, airplanes, dinosaurs, animals, legos, and my iphone. He is very sweet, although he definitely has a stubborn streak (which is true of all 2-3 year olds I'm sure.) Jack adores his baby brother and is super sweet to him, which is so neat. We thought he would be jealous and act out towards him, but he never has. He loves to hug him, give him kisses, help take care of him, and get him toys. He gets concerned when Liam cries and wants us to go pick him up immediately. Jack recently started at a new branch of Stepping Stone, his daycare center, and he is really enjoying it. Luckily he knew his teacher and some of the kids from the other branch, so it has been a pretty smooth transition. He just started gymnastics as well. Although he cried and refused to participate for some of the first class, he is now enjoying it most of the time. It is the perfect way for him to get out some of his energy, especially now that is often too hot to play outside. We have been swimming in the neighborhood pool quite a bit lately, which Jack loves. We recently took Jack to the circus, and he really enjoyed it.
We are definitely enjoying the summer and are looking forward to lots of adventures, including Jack's birthday in July, and visiting Mississippi and the Alabama gulf coast in August. We can't wait!

Our new blog!
I used to blog a lot, but have let it go since we had Jack in 2009. I thought it would be fun to start a new blog and include updates at least once a month. That way friends and family can keep up with everything that is going on in our busy lives! Jack is now almost 3, and Liam is 6 weeks old. We are always on the go, and there is never a dull moment!
